DIY your own iPhone stand

iPhone Stand

iPhone Stand

This is by far the easier diy i have found on the net. I hope you have not thrown away your iPhone plastic packaging. If you have throw away then you have to find another similar plastic packaging. Flick over the plastic packaging just like the pic on the left. Make sure you use a sharp pen knife to cut out the section. After that make sure there are not sharp edges on the plastic packaging as you do not want to scratch your iPhone. If there are sharp edges just use the nail file to file it away. After which you can install the iPhone alarm clock aplication to turn it into a alarm clock.

Increase your system performance with ease

I understand that you people has read a lot of posts on how to increase or speed up your system performance. A lot of the methods use have to be done manually yourself or install a software and then configure it. If you are not a very tech savvy person you may not know how to configure it because most of the time the methods use required you to know which system process is not in use before you end it. If you disable the wrong process you will experience system unstablility. Other methods will be asking you to increase the virtual memory or to use some program to clear your temp files and history.

Recently i try up TuneUp Utilities 2009 which was recommended to me by my close friend and i can tell you i am very happy with this software. This program is very user friendly it solve your problem by doing recommendation to you.

Main Page

Start Page

Because my pc is already fully optimized so you do not see any warning. When you first time start the TuneUp it will ask you for permission to scan your computer after which it will do recommendation to you. What i like about the reconmmendation is it will explain to you that this process is not important and that you should turn it off. Giving you an option to follow the recommendation or ignore it. Most of the time i use this Start page to do tune up for my system.

If you like to do it individually you can choose the option from the left side bar from there you can choose to increase performance, free up disk space, solve problems and etc.

Below is another two screen shots. Basically i only use the trial version. Do not worry i not selling this product i just want to share with you guys on my finding on the internet. Hope this software will help you all to increase your system performance.

How to get rid of a defective pixel on an LCD monitor?

A search at wikipedia, a defective pixel refer to a pixel not perfoming  as expected and can be categorised as hot pixel(alway on), dead pixel(alway off) and stuck pixel(one or two sub-pixels are always on or always off).

Usually when this happen our first thought will be to send it to the servie centre but before you send to the service centre you may want to try out these two software it may help to solve the defectice pixel and also save the trouble of bringing the LCD monitor to the service centre.

JScreenFix is a software solution that can fix stuck pixels, reduce screen burn-in and improve the quality of images displayed on a screen.

UDPixel is a program helps to locate and fix LCD screens dead pixels. You can fix the stuck pixels by calling them to do rapid changes. You need to run this program for a couple of hours. There is no guarantee on the result, but you don’t really have anything to lose trying it out.

UDPixel is a freeware which you can download a copy and save it in your PC, but for JScreenFix you have to launch the application on an internet browser.

Other than using software you can also try out these methods but it is recommended to try software method as we do not wan to physically damage the LCD monitor.

Pressure Method

  1. Turn off your computer’s monitor.
  2. Get yourself a damp washcloth, so that you don’t scratch your screen.
  3. Take a household pen, pencil, screwdriver, or some other sort of instrument with a focused, but relatively dull, point. A very good tool would be a PDA stylus.
  4. Fold the washcloth to make sure you don’t accidentally puncture it and scratch the screen.
  5. Apply pressure through the folded washcloth with the instrument to exactly where the stuck pixel is. Try not to put pressure anywhere else, as this may make more stuck pixels.
  6. While applying pressure, turn on your computer and screen.
  7. Remove pressure and the stuck pixel should be gone. This works as the liquid in the liquid crystal has not spread into each little pixel. This liquid is used with the backlight on your monitor, allowing different amounts of light through, which creates the different colors.

Tapping Method

  1. Turn on the computer and LCD screen.
  2. Display a black image, which will show the stuck pixel very clearly against the background. (It is very important that you are showing a black image and not just a blank signal, as you need the backlighting of the LCD to be illuminating the back of the panel).
  3. Find a pen with a rounded end. A Sharpie marker with the cap on should be fine for this.
  4. Use the rounded end of the pen to gently tap where the stuck pixel is – not too hard to start with, just enough to see a quick white glow under the point of contact. If you didn’t see a white glow, then you didn’t tap hard enough, so use just slightly more pressure this time.
  5. Start tapping gently. Increase the pressure on the taps gradually for 5-10 taps until the pixel rights itself.
  6. Display a white image (an empty text document is good for this) to verify that you haven’t accidentally caused more damage than you fixed.

These two methods can be found in wikihow.

Fittest internet browser – Chrome

Google Chrome

Google Chrome

Browser vendors often make strong claims about their responsiveness to vulnerability reports and their ability to preemptively prevent exploits. But at the first day of Pwn2Own competition Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer were all exploited. Moreover Safari was the first to be exploited. Google Chrome was the only one left standing. This is due to Google Chrome browser’s sandboxing feature and the operating system’s security measures together pose a formidable challenge. For full report you can check it out at Ars technica.
