Ok after I over heated it I waited 20 minute’s like you said ,and I unplugged it ,and let it cool down for 15 minuted started it back up ,and it know has 2 red light’s what do I do.I for got to ad thermal paste im getting it tomorrow. is that the problem?message me back anyone thank you.I really need help.

I did not do the final step …..overheating/cooldown. My xbox would not power up after the fix. It was due to using a non compatible power supply(elite). I did not know it was not compatible. Gave up, thought there was no hope. slept on it. Tried the original power supply the next day and the lights were green. So why is it necessary to do the final step?
i just found this video after i tried to fix 2 xboxs and failing. My kit came with metal washers to use also should i use them? it says metal washer followed by plastic and plastic then metal on other side but it didnt work just goes loud as hell and gets 2 lights…imma buy your kits from now on if you help me thanks

After letting set overnite, i still get screen freeze although no RROD. Thinking I need to replace x-clamp with screws…
No. After you place the new thermal paste on and re assemble as shown in this video. You only need to have it on for maybe 5 min tops. When you go from 3 red lights to 2 red lights shut it off and let it sit for the night. The 3 red is the hardware failure and the 2 red is indicating overheating. You want to get it to that overheating phase to ensure the CPU/GPU are able to properly re-seat into the motherboard.

@DanialA11 reset, if you overheat it, it causes the board to reset.
@foelde No need to check your clamps overheat just means it needs to cool down first.
and here i am the day after and now i get 1 red ring saying error E73 for fuck sake!! i thought i had this sorted but obviously not i guess i gotta take it in for repair now unless somebody can give me an idea what is wrong? fuck microsoft from now on ive never had this problem with sony in the past so in the future now its playstation all the way

well i have to say i wasnt expecting much from this…but i followed it exactly after having the 3 rings and after a couple of hours fiddling about it actually worked! now im delighted i can finally get back to my playing woo hoo! i dont know how long it will last for but im enjoying it while i can cos them red rings are gone for now! thanks for your help sir without this i would be screwed much appreciated for posting this video
