Consumers Purchase Warranties for More Than 2 Million PlayStation2, X Box and Movie DVD this Holiday Season No More Damaged or Skipping DVDs or CDs.
(PRWEB) January 8, 2003
Herndon, VA (January 7, 2003) Disc Warranty, Inc. announced that consumers have purchased warranties protecting more than 2 million DVDs this holiday season and are expecting millions more to sign up in 2003. Disc Warranty is the only company in the U.S. that offers warranties on DVDs and CDs. This industry is projected to be more than $ 5 billion dollars by 2005. For less than the cost of a single game DVD or music CD a consumer can protect 15 DVDs or CDs. The program can pay for itself after just one repair.
Disc Warranty is so popular because of the cost of game DVDs and the number of discs that become unplayable every year. There are more than 48 million game consoles and 45 million DVD players in the U.S. Approximately 4.5 billion DVDs and CDs were distributed in North America in 2002 not including recordable media. A typical game DVD for PS2 or Xbox can cost as much as $ 50 each and millions of game consoles were sold this holiday season.
DVDs are more susceptible to damage than CDs. DVDs and CDs under normal use will start to skip or not play at all because of scratches, finger prints, and other buildup. Once this happens consumers will often try to clean the disc using an off the shelf solution which often does not work very well and sometimes causes more damage to the disc. The Disc Warranty program allows consumers who have damaged disc to have them repaired at no cost and if the disc cannot be repaired then it will be replaced at no charge. If a disc that needs to be replaced is out of print then the consumer will receive a check for the original cost of the disc.
Millions of consumers have DVDs or CDs that either skip or fail to play. Studies and statistics show that more than 250 million discs (not including recordable media such as CD-R or DVD-R) have been damaged in 2002 with more than half of them being thrown away by consumers at an average cost of approximately $ 28 each when you factor in game discs according to Michael Thompson President/CEO and former VP of Verizon Avenue Video Services. There is a great demand for this type of service because of the popularity of DVDs and CDs and this demand will continue to grow for years to come.
Disc Warranty has secured agreements with a nationwide video rental chain, an online DVD rental company, and an online game rental company. The names of these companies will be announced very shortly. Businesses benefit from the disc warranty program because it allows them to have discs repaired or replaced that are normally thrown away. In addition any disc protected under the disc warranty program is completely transferable.

Japanese toy poke box

Japanese toy poke box
This is a toy box that lets you poke it from the inside. It will be a perfect toy on your working desk every time when you feel bore while waiting for your program to load you can poke your finger inside to play with the character. According to the manufacturer, the box gives off a realistic sensation each time you touch a character, and you can see your own finger in the shadow-hand-style display. The Poking Box is available in Japan, for about $30, and should be a great gift for all. I believe if you search around ebay you should be able to buy one from there too.
